Met with the seller, bike actually exists and I’ll be picking it up Tuesday (once the banks reopen)
Needs some carb work and some polishing, but it’s still a hell of a bike for the money. I’m excited, this will be the first vehicle I’ve ever owned that was produced by an allied power.

Should I be worried? :)

Nice! That tufted seat looks weird though.

I agree, it’ll probably come off once I get an idea of what needs to be done mechanically

Yeah, I'd go on a triumph forum and talk about how great that seat is, in hopes that someone offers to trade a stock one for it.... And crazy price.. How many miles on it?

Nah, the newish Hinckley’s are pretty bomber. Mine has a lot more to worry about from my attempts at maintenance. That said, Triumph-branded parts and consumables can be spendy, so finding generic substitutes is a good idea.

Nice. Must admit I’m jealous. Rode my first triumph, Daytona, today and it was awesome.

Pretty robust generic aftermarket then? I had assumed so since it’s been out for a while and I believe they sold relatively well.

I’ve been hunting for a triumph triple ever since I rode my friends street triple. Obviously the Thunderbird is a different type of horse, but the engine characteristics should be the same and that’s kinda what I’m going for.

The sound of that triple though! Who would’ve thought three cylinders could sound so awesome?
Yeah, I’m sure you will be very happy. I haven’t encountered a triumph I wouldn’t enjoy riding yet.

And who’d have thought that going to three cylinders would so effectively combine the most desirable characteristics of a twin and an I4. I mean it seems so obvious, but things so rarely work out that way.

Right! Especially after having driven more smart cars than I care to admit that all sounded terrible (except for one I legitimately thought was a CLA45 until I saw it), were rough, and powerless. I’m mean I knew the triumph triples were good, but I didn’t know they were awesome.

It makes me wonder what a smart would sound like with no cats and a titanium exhaust. Can’t fix the lack of power or refinement though.

Presumably similar to a 45? I guess? Which isn’t a bad thing at all. Well, not for the smart at least. This one had some sort of aftermarket exhaust on it though I don’t know specifics because I didn’t really care to look.

Haha, me either. Far as I know anybody doing a “performance” build does superbike motor swaps.

I know at least one of the forums (maybe triumphrat) has an equivalent part no. list, e.g. jap parts, alternate filters, etc. Ebay and triumph vendors for parts.
